It is truly sad

"It is truly sad that a virtual economy that once promised so much both explicitly, and intrinsically, to so many, for the future of online business and the expansion of the information economy, has come to such a situation. We once saw Second Life as the next phase of the internet. However, like AOL, they have rapaciously and predatory preyed upon their user base and destroyed the economy they once helped foster, and as a result are sealing their own eventual doom as an evolutionary dead end in the history of technology and business."

  1. The Alphaville Herald is a cutesy tabloid run by academics with an axe to grind: they write FUD about Linden Lab because Second Life doesn't look like their vision of how virtual worlds should be.

If Mike Lorrey really wanted SL to be "the next phase of the internet" he wouldn't have set up a shady investment company and he wouldn't have helped goons torment SL residents while defending their actions as an "educational experience." I'm happy to see him banned. Maybe now he'll go scam and torment some people using OpenSim.
